SHA acknowledges that they could improve their design

Good News! We met with SHA engineers from the MD 198 study team last week.

This is a great step forward, since previously the SHA had told us it that this design was not possible. However, we will need to continue to push the State Highway Administration that making MD 198 a "Main Street" is not just feasible, but the best solution we have to #BuildaBetterBurtonssville.
We are not trying to re-invent the wheel: local residents have supported a "Main Street" for over two decades, when it was first incorporated into the 1997 Fairland Master Plan and reaffirmed by the community in 2011/2012. We believe the time has come for the state and county to significantly invest in the revitalization of this community.
That's why we have several people signed up to testify in support of the Burtonsville Crossroads Neighborhood Plan, and for those that cannot attend the hearing: we will be rolling out an online petition soon!
